Dejan Stankov, PhD, assumed the position of Acting Director of the State Statistical Office.
He comes from the position of Senior Advisor Analyst in the Statistics Department at the National Bank. He has 15 years of experience in the field of official statistics in the Macedonian statistical system, including as a Deputy Director-General of the State Statistical Office (2014-2017).
His professional career was enriched by a traineeship at Eurostat, as a young statistician in 2011. Dejan Stankov holds a PhD in economics and an MSc in monetary economics.
He has participated in numerous statistical conferences, seminars, workshops and working group expert meetings organised within the European Statistical System, as well as IMF training courses.
After his appointment, Mr. Stankov emphasised his commitment to justifying the trust given to him by the assignment to this important position:
"Aware of the responsibility that comes with this position, I will strongly dedicate myself to the further development of the Macedonian statistical system through the production of independent, impartial and high-quality statistical information, harmonised with European and international standards, with the aim of further improvement of democracy and the market economy.
I am convinced that with the dedication, enthusiasm, knowledge and support from the Government and other social actors, and above all, together with the employees of the State Statistical Office, we will continue transforming the State Statistical Office into a modern statistical institute following the example of developed EU member states”.
