Workshop with the authorised bodies of the Statistical System of the Republic of Macedonia
27.06.2017

The Programme of Statistical Surveys 2018-2022 will be the fourth Five-Year Programme that is adopted in the Republic of Macedonia after the enactment of the Law on State Statistics. The goal of the Programme's adoption is to ensure a consistent system of state statistics, based on firmly prescribed national and international standards, which will be compatible and comparable with international statistical systems. The programme integrates all authorised participants, in order to prevent the production of official statistics outside the system of state statistics.

As part of the preparation of the Five-Year Programme of Statistical Surveys, 2018-2022, the State Statistical Office (MAKSTAT) held a Workshop with the authorised bodies of the Statistical System of the Republic of Macedonia, 22-23 June 2017. The aim of the Workshop was to discuss the content of the next programme in order to provide high-quality data and meet the modern needs of the users.

The workshop was opened and led by Mr. Dejan Stankov, Deputy Director of MAKSTAT, who among other things spoke about the role of MAKSTAT as the coordinator of the National Statistical System.

MAKSTAT also presented the legal aspects of the participants in the Statistical System in relation to the Five-Year Programme of Statistical Surveys, as well as the meaning of the European Statistics Code of Practice, the Peer Review of the National Statistical System 2017, and the criteria which the authorised bodies should aim to meet.

The authorised bodies presented their situation and the planned changes regarding the Five-Year Programme of Statistical Surveys.

The workshop was organised in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform (MAPP).
