The third meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twinning Project "Support to the State Statistical Office for capacity building and improving compliance of statistics with EU standards" was held on 20.07.2017 in Skopje.
At the meeting, the third quarterly report of the Project was reviewed and adopted, and the activities planned for the next period were presented and discussed.
Since the launch of the Project in October 2016, 35 missions and one study visit have been carried out. In the third quarter, there were 16 missions attended by 95 SSO employees (plus 2 persons from the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund). The study visit also took place in the third quarter.
Taking into account that by the end of the Project (February 2018) another 41 missions and 2 study visits need to be organised, an analysis was made of the status of achievement of the benchmarks and intermediate results. Based on the analysis findings, the Steering Committee concluded that it is vital to request an extension of the Project duration in order to enable successful achievement of the mandatory results.
In addition to this change, the Steering Committee concluded that a replacement of the project leader of the beneficiary country in the basic contract should be requested, since the State Statistical Office has a new Acting Director General, Mr. Apostol Simovski.
