A delegation from the State Statistical Office, led by director Apostol Simovski, participated in the annual Conference of European Statisticians, which this year was held on June 22 and 23, in Geneva, Switzerland. The topics discussed at the Conference are always current and in line with changes in society. One of this year's topics was the transition to using open-source technologies. Namely, a large number of statistical offices are transitioning or planning to transition from using traditional software to using open-source technologies, such as R or Python. The Conference discussed these changes, the strategic challenges and impacts, as well as the countries' experiences in preparing for such a transformation.
The State Statistics Office regularly participates in the Conference of European Statisticians and regularly follows the news and recommendations arising from it.
