The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which foresees strengthening of national capacities for collecting population data, analysis, dissemination and utilisation for development policies.
Over the next three years, UNFPA will provide technical assistance for improvement of population statistics, including the Population Census. The active cooperation continues, aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge of the population about the importance of official statistics, as well as continuous dialogue with the non-governmental sector regarding the needs for population data.
The overall purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to monitor the progress in the implementation of national policies and strategies related to the social inclusion and reproductive health of adolescents, women and men in the country, as well as other national and international obligations that are in line with the Partnership for Sustainable Development of the UN for the period 2016-2010, signed by the Government and the UN team in the country.
