Today, the Director of the State Statistical Office, Mr. Apostol Simovski, and the Deputy Director, Mr. Ilmi Selami, had a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Bujar Osmani.
The meeting was dedicated to the preparations for the Census of Population, Households and Dwellings 2021, and the role of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the process of enumerating the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia who live or reside abroad.
This is the first census in which our citizens abroad are given the opportunity to self-enumerate and provide data about themselves and their families - said Simovski and stressed that this will give a realistic picture of migratory movements of our population, which will be a good basis for creating strategies and policies to stop this process.
Minister Osmani stressed that in order to give maximum support to this process of enumeration which is of national interest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will mobilise all diplomatic and consular missions to inform Macedonian citizens abroad about the self-enumeration process.
In the forthcoming period, there will be educational online workshops on the manner of self-enumeration, and the two institutions will have joint teams to work on informing the population abroad on all Census-related issues.
