Labour Market
The labour force in the first quarter of 2010 increased by 0.7% compared to the same period of 2009

According to the data of the State Statistical Office, in the I quarter of 2010, the labour force in the Republic of Macedonia numbered 925613 persons, of which 615962 or 66.5% were employed and 309651 persons or 33.5% were unemployed persons.
The number of employed persons in the I quarter of 2010, compared to the same period of the last year, decreased by 0.4%.
In comparison with the same period of 2009, the number of unemployed persons increased by 2.9%.
The activity rate in this period was 56.3, the employment rate was 37.5, whereas the unemployment rate was 33.5.
