According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-December 2023 amounted to 512 368 615 thousand denars, a 0.2% increase compared to the same period last year. The value of imported goods in the same period was 686 299 500 thousand denars, or 8.1% less than the same period last year.
The trade deficit in the period January-December 2023 was 173 930 885 thousand denars.
Import coverage by export in the period January-December 2023 was 74.7%.
The external trade by products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of the seats of subgroup 821.1 and other supported catalysts. In the imports, the most significant products are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude), other metals of the platinum group and alloys thereof, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and motor vehicles for the transport of persons, n.e.s.
In the period January-December 2023, according to the total external trade volume, the most important trade partners of the Republic of North Macedonia were Germany, Great Britain, Greece, China and Serbia.
Expressed in euros, the total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-December 2023 amounted to 8 322 815 thousand euros, a 0.3% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 11 148 538 thousand euros, or 8.1% less than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January- December 2023 was 2 825 723 thousand euros.
The total value of exported goods from the Republic of North Macedonia in the period January-December 2023 amounted to 8 996 952 thousand US dollars, a 3.1% increase compared to the same period last year, while the value of imported goods in the same period was 12 053 456 thousand US dollars, or 5.5% less than the same period last year. The trade deficit in the period January-December 2023 was 3 056 504 thousand US dollars.
