Transport of passengers and goods in the first quarter of 2017

According to the data of the State Statistical Office, in the first quarter of 2017, compared to the same period of 2016, the number of passengers carried in road passenger transport increased by 1.4%, in urban-suburban transport by 6.9% and in air transport by 7.1%, whereas the number of passengers carried in rail transport declined by 38.6%.
In comparison with the fourth quarter of 2016, the number of passengers carried in road passenger transport decreased by 5.8%, in urban-suburban transport by 0.5%, in rail transport by 37.0% and in air transport by 10.5%.
In the first quarter of 2017, in comparison with the same period of 2016, the quantity of goods carried in freight road transport rose by 69.6%, whereas in rail transport it fell by 18.5% and in air transport by 30.2%.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2016, the quantity of goods carried in freight road transport grew by 24.6%, while in rail transport it dropped by 19.8% and in air transport by 14.3%.
