Balance of coal by months, 2012 - preliminary data -

According to the State Statistical Office data, in 2012, a total of 296 623 tonnes of Coal were imported in the Republic of
Macedonia, of which: 1 788 tonnes of Hard Coal (Anthracite, Coking Coal, Other Bituminous Coal), 281 319 tonnes of Lignite
(Sub-Bituminous Coal, Brown Coal, Lignite, Peat), and 13 516 tonnes of Coke Oven Coke.
The total primary production of Lignite in 2012 was 7 310 276 tonnes.
The gross inland consumption of Lignite was 7 653 390 tonnes, of which 95.75% were used in Public thermal power stations for
production of Electrical energy, 0.27% in Autoproducer thermal power stations for production of Heat and Electrical energy, and
3.98% for Final energy consumption.
The biggest final consumers of Coal with 303 036 tonnes were the industrial sectors, as follows: 2 375 tonnes of Hard Coal,
287 228 tonnes of Lignite and 13 433 tonnes of Coke Oven Coke.
