According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in December 2018, in comparison with the previous month, was 99.8, while the Retail Price Index was 99.5.
In 2018, in comparison with 2017, the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.5%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 2.7%.
The movement of the Consumer Price Index in 2018 was different by certain groups of consumption.
An increase of indices was registered in the groups: Transport by 7.5%, Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 5.5%, Recreation and culture by 2.4%, Restaurants and hotels by 1.9%, Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Furnishings, household equipment, routine maintenance of the house by 0.8%, Health and Communication by 0.7%, Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.5%.
A decrease was recorded in the groups: Clothing and footwear by 0.4% and Education by 0.1%.
The group Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels remained at the same level as in the previous year.
The movement of the Retail Price Index in 2018 was different by various groups of products as well. An increase of the indices was registered in the groups: Services by 3.7%, Agricultural products by 3.6%, Non-food industrial products and tobacco by 2.5%, Food industrial products by 0.8%. The group Beverages remained at the same level as in the previous year.
The Consumer Price Index in December 2018, in comparison with December 2017, increased by 0.9%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 1.0%.
The Consumer Price Index in December 2018, in comparison with the previous month, decreased by 0.2%.
The decrease in the Consumer Price Index, in December 2018, in comparison with the previous month, was a result of the lower indices of fresh or chilled fruit by 3.3%, dried fruit and nuts by 0.9%, milk by 0.8%, edible offal by 0.7%, food products n.e.c by 0.6%, eggs by 0.5%, other bakery products, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.3%, oils and fats by 0.2%.
In December 2018, there was also a decrease of the indices of gas for households by 6.8%, liquid fuels for households by 12.5%, liquid fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment by 10.6%, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments by 3.6%, information processing equipment by 1.9%, recording media by 1.0%, books by 1.5%, motor cars by 1.4%, equipment for sport, camping and open-air recreation by 0.9%, other medical products by 0.3%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling, equipment for reception, recording and reproduction of sound and picture by 0.2%.
An increase of Consumer price Index in December 2018, in comparison with the previous month was registered in chilled vegetables other than potatoes and other tubers by 1.6%, fish and seafood, dried vegetables, other preserved or processed vegetables by 0.7%, cheese and curd by 0.5%, bread and cereals by 0.4%, other meat preparations, yoghurt by 0.2%.
In December 2018, there was also an increase of passenger transport by air by 3.9%, cleaning and maintenance products for the dwelling by 2.1%, gardens, plants and flowers, package holidays by 1.3%, paramedical services by 0.9%, carpets and other floor coverings, other personal effects by 0.8%, footwear, telephone and telefax equipment by 0.7%, major electric appliances, small electric household appliances, accommodation services, personal care by 0.5%, furniture and furnishings by 0.4%, medicines, therapeutic appliances and equipment, spare parts for personal transport equipment, restaurants and hotels by 0.2%.
