Consumer Price Index by COICOP and Retail Price Index,
August 2018

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in August 2018, in comparison with the previous month, was
100.3, while the Retail Price Index was 100.9.
An increase of the Consumer Price Index in August 2018, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh or chilled
vegetables other than potatoes and other tubers by 4.9%, cigarettes by 0.7%, edible offal, frozen fruit by 0.6%, yoghurt by 0.5%, fish and seafood and preserved fruit and fruit-based products by 0.2%.
In August 2018, there was also an increase of the indices of passenger transport by air by 21.1%, other medical products by 3.7%,
package holidays by 2.5%, accommodation services by 2.2%, cultural services by 2.1%, water supply and miscellaneous services relating to the dwelling by 0.9%, small electric household appliances by 0.5%, paramedical services, equipment for reception, recording and reproduction of sound and picture by 0.4% and bicycles by 0.3%.
A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in August 2018, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh or chilled fruit by 5.2%, dry fruit and nuts by 0.7%, other meat preparations by 0.6%, milk, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.4%, dried, salted or smoked meat, dried vegetables, other preserved or processed vegetables by 0.3%, cheese and curd, oils and fats, food products n.e.c and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.2%.
In August, there was also a decrease of the indices of heat energy by 2.9%, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments by 1.7%, liquid fuels for household by 1.3%, cleaning and maintenance products of the dwelling by 1.2%, information processing equipment by 1.0%, liquid fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment by 0.7%, footwear by 0.5%, household furniture by 0.4%, household textiles, recording media by 0.3%, gardens, plants and flowers, personal care and other personal effects by 0.2%.
The Consumer Price Index in August 2018, in comparison with August 2017, increased by 1.5%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 3.3%.
