Consumer Price Index by COICOP classification and Retail Price Index,
February 2017

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in February 2017, in comparison with the previous month, was 99.5, while the Retail Price Index was 99.4. The decrease in the Consumer Price Index by 0.5% in February 2017, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the lower indices of fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes by 16.3%, fresh or chilled fruit by 5.3%, whole milk by 0.8%, other meat preparations by 0.3%, bread and cereals, eggs and oils and fats by 0.2%. In February, there was also a decrease of the indices of passenger transport by air by 31.5%, refuse collection by 4.7%, package holidays by 3.8%, liquid fuels for household by 1.0%, sewage collection by 0.9%, games, toys and hobbies by 0.8%, bicycles by 0.7%, household furniture by 0.5%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling, personal care and articles for personal hygiene and wellness by 0.2%. An increase in the Consumer Price Index in February 2017, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in frozen seafood by 4.3%, non-alcoholic beverages by 1.8%, other preserved or processed fish and seafood-based preparations by 1.7%, other milk products by 1.0%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.7%, dried fruit and nuts by 0.4%, meat and frozen fruit by 0.3%, cheese and curd, dried, salted or smoked meat, frozen vegetables other than potatoes and other food products by 0.2%. In February 2017, there was also an increase of the indices of newspapers, books and stationery by 4.6%, gas for household by 4.3%, hospital services by 3.5%, telephone and telefax equipment and telephone and telefax services by 3.4%, gardens, plants and flowers by 1.8%, spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment by 1.3%, cleaning and maintenance of the dwelling and catering services by 1.0%, medicines and information processing equipment by 0.9%, clothing by 0.6%, footwear by 0.5%, solid fuels for household, major household appliances and other services in respect of personal transport equipment by 0.4%, services for maintenance and repair of the dwelling, water supply and recreational and sporting services by 0.3%. The Consumer Price Index in February 2017, in comparison with February 2016, registered an increase by 0.2%, while the Retail Price Index increased by 1.3%.
