According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in December 2016, in comparison with the
previous month, was 99.9, while the Retail Price Index was 100.0.
In 2016, in comparison with 2015, both the Consumer Price Index and the Retail Price Index decreased by 0.2%.
The movement of the Consumer Price Index in 2016 was different by certain groups of consumption.
A decrease of indices was registered in the groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Health by 0.4%, Alcoholic
beverages, tobacco and narcotics by 0.2% and Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the
house by 0.1%.
An increase was recorded in the groups: Recreation and culture by 1.2%, Transport by 0.5%, Clothing and footwear
and Miscellaneous goods and services by 0.2% and Restaurants and hotels by 0.1%.
The groups Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, Communication and Education remained at the same level
as in the previous year.
The movement of the Retail Price Index in 2016 was different by various groups of products, as well.
A decrease of the indices was registered in the groups: Agricultural products by 0.8%, Services by 0.3% and Beverages
by 0.2%.
An increase was observed in the group Non-food industrial products by 0.3%.
The group Food industrial products remained at the same level as in the previous year.
The Consumer Price Index in December 2016, in comparison with December 2015, decreased by 0.2%, while the Retail
Price Index increased by 0.1%.
The Consumer Price Index in December 2016, in comparison with the previous month, decreased by 0.1%.
The decrease in the Consumer Price Index in December 2016, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of
the lower indices of fruit by 5.9%, fish and seafood and milk by 0.8%, other food products n.e.c by 0.7%, alcoholic
beverages by 0.6%, vegetables by 0.5%, rice by 0.4% and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.2%.
In December 2016, there was also a decrease of the indices of passenger transport by air by 6.5%, cleaning and
maintenance of the dwelling by 0.4%, recreational and sporting services by 0.3% and medicines by 0.2%.
An increase in the Consumer Price Index in December 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was recorded in
other bakery products by 1.2% and sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.6%.
In December 2016, there was also an increase of the indices of package holidays by 4.8%, information processing
equipment by 2.7%, liquid fuels for household by 2.5%, liquid fuels and lubricants by 1.4%, gas for household by 0.9%,
small household appliances by 0.4%, clothing, services and articles for personal care by 0.3%.
