Consumer Price Index by COICOP classification and Retail Price Index, August 2016


According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in August 2016, in comparison with the previous month,
was 99.9, while the Retail Price Index was 100.4.

The decrease in the Consumer Price Index by 0.1% in August 2016, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the
lower indices of frozen fruit by 2.9%, fresh or chilled fruit by 2.5%, rice by 2.4%, flours and other cereals and potatoes by 1.7%,
other food products by 0.7%, dried fruit and nuts by 0.6%, cheese and curd by 0.5%, other bakery products and other meat
preparations by 0.4%, other milk products by 0.3% and dried, salted or smoked meat by 0.2%.

In August, there was also a decrease of the indices of central heating by 10.7%, liquid fuels for household by 5.8%, liquid fuels
and lubricants by 3.0%, gas for household by 2.0%, information processing equipment by 1.9%, articles for personal hygiene and
wellness by 1.3%, services for personal care by 1.1%, spare parts for personal transport equipment by 0.6%, footwear by 0.4%
and cleaning and maintenance products for the dwelling by 0.2%.

An increase in the Consumer Price Index in August 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in meat by 1.0%,
sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.9%, fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes by 0.7%, milk and nonalcoholic beverages by 0.3% and frozen vegetables and dried vegetables by 0.2%.

In August 2016, there was also an increase of the indices of passenger transport by air by 43.5%, hospital services by 3.5%, bicycles by 0.7%, household textiles by 0.6%, package holidays by 0.5%, small electric household appliances and tools and equipment for house and garden by 0.3% and medicines and jewellery, clocks and watches by 0.2%.

The Consumer Price Index in August 2016, in comparison with August 2015, registered a decrease by 0.3%, while the Retail Price
Index decreased by 0.2%.
