According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in January 2016, in comparison with the previous month,
was 99.8, while the Retail Price Index was 100.0.
The decrease in the Consumer Price Index by 0.2% in January 2016, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the
lower indices of fresh or chilled fruit by 1.9%, dried, salted or smoked meat by 1.6%, eggs by 0.6%, dried fruit and nuts by 0.5%,
bread and meat by 0.4%, fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes by 0.3%.
In January, there was also a decrease of the indices of footwear by 3.7%, liquid fuels and lubricants by 3.5%, package holidays
by 3.4%, small tools and miscellaneous accessories by 1.7%, spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment by
1.4%, articles for personal hygiene and wellness by 1.3%, services for personal care by 1.0%, passenger transport by bus by 0.8%,
medicines and catering services in the restaurants and hotels by 0.6%, clothing and other non-durable articles for household by
0.3%, glassware, tableware and household utensils by 0.2%.
An increase in the Consumer Price Index in January 2016, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in
other bakery products by 2.9%, frozen vegetables other than potatoes by 2.0%, food products n.e.c by 1.9%, rice and
potatoes by 1.8%, edible offal by 1.6%, flours and other cereals by 1.5%, preserved fruit by 1.1%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and
confectionery by 1.0%, other meat preparations, fish and seafood by 0.7%, low fat milk, cheese and curd, oils and fats by 0.5%,
whole milk by 0.3% and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.2%.
In January, there was also an increase of the indices of passenger transport by air by 4.9%, cleaning and maintenance products
for the dwelling by 3.2%, hospital services by 2.1%, motor cars by 1.4%, small electric household appliances by 1.2%, major
household appliances by 1.1%, jewellery, clocks and watches by 0.3%, materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling and
information processing equipment by 0.2%.
The Consumer Price Index in January 2016, in comparison with January 2015, registered an increase by 0.1%, while the Retail
Price Index increased by 0.2%.
