Consumer Price Index by COICOP classification and Retail Price Index, March 2014

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in March 2014, in comparison with the previous month, was 99.7, while the Retail Price Index was 98.8.


The decrease in the Consumer Price Index by 0.3% in March 2014, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the lower indices of fats by 5.4%, other food products by 1.1%, meat by 0.9%, processed fish by 0.8%, canned meat products and fresh vegetables by 0.6%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.3% and dry fruit by 0.2%.


In March, there was also a decrease of the indices of gas for households by 6.0%, passenger transport by air by 3.6%, accommodation services by 2.7%, cleaning and maintenance products by 1.9%, liquid fuels for households and telephone and telefax equipment and services by 1.8%, footwear by 1.0%, medicines by 0.7% and liquid fuels and lubricants by 0.3%.


An increase in the Consumer Price Index in March 2014, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh fruit by 3.4%, processed vegetables by 1.8% and frozen vegetables by 1.0%.

In March, there was also an increase of the indices of package holidays by 3.3%, glassware, tableware and household utensils by 1.3%, other recreational items and equipment, gardens and pets by 0.6%, small household appliances by 0.5%, solid fuels by 0.3%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling and major household appliances by 0.2%.


The Consumer Price Index in March 2014, in comparison with March 2013, registered an increase by 0.2%, while the Retail Price Index decreased by 0.7%.
