Retail Price Index and Consumer Price Index,
February 2013

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in February 2013, in comparison with the previous month, was 99.9, while the Consumer Price Index was 100.2. The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.2% in February 2013, in comparison with the previous month, is a result of the higher indices of fish by 1.9%, dairy products by 1.5%, processed fruit and meat by 0.5%, fresh and sour milk by 0.4%, cereal products and confectionery products by 0.3%, processed vegetables, processed meat and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.2%. In February, there was also an increase of the indices of personal transport equipment by 4.6%, solid fuels by 2.4%, personal care articles by 0.9%, oil derivatives by 0.7%, other medical products by 0.6%, household appliances by 0.5%, food and beverages in restaurants and hotels and other miscellaneous services by 0.4% and medicines by 0.2%. A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in February 2013, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fats by 0.4%, fruit and alcoholic beverages by 0.2%. In February, there was also a decrease of the indices of passenger transport by air by 6.8%, telecommunication services by 2.2%, means of education by 0.8%, footwear, liquid fuels and gas for households and education services by 0.4%. The Retail Price Index in February 2013, in comparison with February 2012, registered an increase by 1.8%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 3.5%.
