Retail Price Index and the Consumer Price Index, January 2011

According to the State Statistical Offce data, the Retail Price Index and the Consumer Price Index in January 2011, in comparison
with December 2010, was 100.9.
The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.9% is a result of the higher indices of eggs by 3.7%, fats by 3.5%, confectionery
products by 3.3%, fruit by 3.2%, sugars by 2.7%, cereal products by 2.4%, fresh and sour milk by 1.6%, processed vegetables by
1.2%, meat by 0.8%, processed meat by 0.7%, vegetables, dairy products and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.4% and processed
fruit by 0.3%.
In January, there was also an increase of the indices of oil derivatives by 4.5%, central heating by 3.7%, liquid fuels and gas
by 2.9%, transport equipment by 1.3%, education services by 1.2%, furniture and household utensils by 0.9%, other means of
education by 0.6%, medicines by 0.4%, footwear by 0.3%, cosmetic products, passenger transport and food in restaurants and
hotels by 0.2%.
A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in January 2011, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fsh by 2.8%
and alcoholic beverages by 0.4%.In January, there was also a decrease of the indices of package holidays by 11.6%, household
utensils by 2.1% and household appliances by 0.6%.
The Retail Price Index in January 2011, compared with January 2010, registered an increase by 3.4%, while the Consumer Price
Index increased by 3.2%.
