Retail Price Index and Consumer Price Index, December 2010

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in December 2010, in comparison with the
previous month, was 100.7, while the Consumer Price Index was 100.7.
The Retail Price Index in 2010, compared to 2009, increased by 2.6%, while the Consumer Price Index increased
by 1.6%.
The movement of the Retail Price Index in 2010 was different by certain groups of products. An increase has been
registered in the groups: Non-food industrial products by 6.2%, Food industrial products by 1.1%, Services by 0.4%
and Beverages by 0.1%.
A decrease has been registered in the group Agricultural products by 1.4%.
The movement of the Consumer Price Index in 2010 was different by various groups of consumption, as well. An
increase has been registered in the groups: Fuel and lighting by 8.7%, Transport and communication services by
3.7%, Clothing and footwear by 0.8%, Flat (rent, water and other services) by 0.6%, Tobacco and beverages by
0.5%, Hygiene and health, Household furnishings, Culture and entertainment and Restaurants and hotels by 0.4%
and Food by 0.3%.
A decrease of indices has been registered in the group Miscellaneous services n.e.c by 6.1%.
The Retail Price Index in December 2010, compared to December 2009, increased by 3.7%, while the Consumer
Price Index increased by 3.0%.
The increase in the Retail Price Index by 0.7% in December 2010, in comparison with the previous month, is a result
of the increase of indices in the groups: Agricultural products and Non-food industrial products by 1.4% and Food
industrial products by 1.0%.
A decrease in the Retail Price Index has been registered in the group Beverages by 0.3%.
The index of the group Services remained at the same level as in the previous month.
As a result of the retail price movements, the increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.7% in December 2010, in
comparison with the previous month, is a result of the higher indices of vegetable by 8.6%, fats by 4.3%, eggs by
2.4%, other food products by 2.3%, processed meat by 1.0%, processed fish and dairy products by 0.8% and meat
by 0.6%.
In December, an increase of the Consumer Price Index was also registered in liquid fuels and gas by 4.5%, personal
care articles and medicines by 1.3%, spare parts of transport vehicles by 1.0%, footwear and fuel and lighting by
0.3% and hygiene services by 0.2%.
A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in December 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was registered
in fruit by 6.3% and cereal products, fresh and sour milk by 0.3%.
Also, a decrease of the Consumer Price Index was registered in household utensils and food at restaurants by 0.3%
and means of education by 0.2%.
The value of the consumer basket for food and beverages for a four-member household in December 2010, calculated
on the basis of retail prices, was 12 342 denars, and in comparison with the previous month, it is higher by 1.1%.
