The Retail Price Index in April 2010, compared with March 2010, increased by 0.8%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.6%

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in April 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.8, while the Consumer Price Index was 100.6.

The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.6% is a result of the higher indices of vegetable by 10.6%, fruit by 4.1%, processed fish by 1.1%, processed vegetable by 0.7%, milk and sour milk and other food products by 0.4%, processed meat by 0.3% and fats by 0.2%.

In April, there was also an increase of the indices of oil derivates by 4.4%, education services by 1.9%, means of education by 1.8%, food in restaurants and hotels by 0.5%, vehicles maintenance by 0.3% and transport equipment by 0.2%.

A small increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.1% was registered in the group Housing. A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in April 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in dairy products by 1.9%, meat by 1.2%, processed fruit and alcoholic beverages by 0.5% and cereal products by 0.3%.

In April, there was also a decrease of the indices of personal care articles by 1.8%, Miscellaneous services n.e.c by 0.9%, services for personal health care and hygiene by 0.7%, clothing by 0.3%, footwear and medicines by 0.2%.

The Retail Price Index in April 2010, compared with April 2009, registered an increase by 2.7%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.4%.

The value of the consumer basket for food and beverages for a four-member household in April 2010, calculated on the basis of retail prices, was 12 656 denars, and in comparison with the previous month it is higher by 2.6%.
