According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the number of students in the regular primary and lower secondary schools at the beginning of the school year 2011/2012 was 198 856, which is a decrease of 2.7% compared to the previous school year.
The number of students in the regular upper secondary schools at the beginning of the school year 2011/2012 was 93 064, which is decrease of 1.2% compared to the previous school year.
