According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, in May 2024, in comparison with May 2023, the turnover in retail trade increased in the following groups/classes: Retail sale of non-food products (except fuel) by 4.6% in nominal terms and 1.1% in real terms, Retail trade, except automotive fuel by 4.1% in nominal terms and 0.3% in real terms, and Retail trade of automotive fuel by 11.6% in nominal terms and 3.7% in real terms. A decrease was registered only in the group Retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco, by 0.3% in real terms.
Starting from 2024, the monthly indices for trade turnover are calculated with a new base year 2021=100. All indices that were previously published with the base year 2015=100 have been recalculated with the new base year and published in the MakStat database.
