In this Statistical Review, the State Statistical Office is publishing data in the field of publishing activity in the Republic
of Macedonia in 2013.
The data are collected through the regular statistical surveys on published books and brochures, newspapers and
magazines.
This Review contains the basic information about the publishing activity (number of titles and circulation, language
of publication and of the original, subject area, frequency of publication of periodical publications, purpose, type of the
publisher, etc.).
The data are presented at the country level and they are gathered by the regular questionnaires from publishers.
The State Statistical Office has a successful cooperation with the European statistical and other institutions, as well
as with the UN statistical services, which enables the adoption and implementation of new standards, classifications and
methods for statistical surveys.
The books, brochures and magazines by subject area are classified according to the Universal Decimal Classification,
which is used at the international level.
We expect that the Review will fulfil its basic function of providing users with enough statistical information for
further analyses and scientific works.
