Methodological explanation for the news release:

Renewable energy

Sources of data collection

Sources of data collection for the annual report on renewable energy are: Monthly surveys on energy, Ene.1, Ene.6, Ene.7, Ene.8, Ene.13, Ene.16; Annual surveys on energy, Ene.51, Ene.56, Ene.57, Ene.58, Ene.63, Quarterly survey on forestry, Annual survey on forestry, Annual survey on agriculture, Statistical survey on external trade, Estimation of consumption in households by types of energy commodities.

Data scope

In the process of collecting data from the reporting units, the method of full coverage is used (for business entities that perform production), as well as the sample method (for business entities that are consumers).Data on wood fuel production from state and private forests are provided from the Public Enterprise for Forest Management ‘’Makedonski sumi’’ and the National Parks.

Definitions

For defining the categories in the balance scheme, the Annual questionnaire for Renewables, 2009 of Eurostat, ECE/UN and IEA/OECD is used.Balance of Wood covers: wood fuel, wood waste, other solid waste.Balance of Geothermal Heat covers geothermal water.Balance of Hydroelectricity covers electrical energy produced in hydroelectric plants.Balance of Biodiesel covers biodiesel produced from vegetable or animal oil, of diesel quality.

Import/Export represents the quantity that entered/left the national territory.

Exchanges and transfers, returns represent transfer of hydroelectricity gross productions.

Distribution losses include all losses due to distribution of geothermal heat.

Available for final consumption is the Renewable Energy available to final consumers.

Statistical difference is the difference between Available for final consumption and Final energy consumption.

Calculation method

For calculating the Balances of: Wood, Geothermal Heat, Hydroelectricity, Biodiesel (total, by months), the methodology ‘’Energy Statistics Methodology Eurostat F4, 1998’’ is used.

Classifications

In the distribution of Final consumption of Renewable Energy, the National Classification of Activities of the Republic of Macedonia (Official Gazette No.09/2006) is used.
