Turnover in trade by group of products
Legal basis
Legal basis for statistical survey on trade by product type is the Law on State Statistics (‘’Official Journal of the Republic of Macedonia” no. 54/97, 21/07, 51/2011, 104/2013, 42/2014, 192/15, 27/16, 83/2018 ? 220/2018) and the Programme for statistical surveys 2018-2022 (’’Official Journal of the Republic of Macedonia” no. 22/2018 and 224/2018).
Purpose of the survey
The purpose of the survey on trade by product type is monitoring of data on turnover from sale of goods and material in retail trade and wholesale trade. The survey data shows the level of economic activity i.e. the structure of turnover by product type.
Coverage and sample
The survey covers the business entities (reporting units), whose main activity is trade (Section G, NACE. Rev2), based on sample. The sample criterion is the realized turnover value of the previous year. The turnover value is expressed in current prices and represents the invoice value of sold goods and services in the Republic of Macedonia for the reference period, without value added tax (VAT).
Methods of data collection
Data collection is based on questionnaires (questionnaire TRG.21). Which is distributed to the reporting units on paper, by post or electronically, by e-mail. The periodicity of the survey is bi-annual, and the published data refer to the previous year.
Definitions
Wholesale trade is purchase of goods for further sale to merchants, processors or big customers in the country. Goods can be sold unchanged or after processing, packing or repacking.
Retail trade is purchase of goods for further sale to final users (for personal and household use) or to others, using for performing activity under certain conditions.
