Methodological explanation for the news release:

Continuing vocational training in business entities - CVTS5

The Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS) is conducted in order to obtain data on investments, types and ways of realization of the trainings within an enterprise, with which the engaged labour force with certain qualifications and skills is adapting to the needs of the business entity of appropriate qualifications and skills of labor.

Definitions

Continuing Vocational Training
is a measure or activity of training whose primary objective is the acquisition of new competencies or development and improvement of the existing ones, which must be financed at least partly by the business entity for employees who either have an employment contract or directly contribute to the work of the business entity as unpaid family workers and temporary workers. The participation in a training by the employees during working hours is considered as a financial support by the business entity.
Employees having a contract for traineeship or training should not be considered for CVT (these may be relevant candidates for an IVT).
Measures and training activities must be planned in advance and must be organized or supported with a specific purpose of learning. Incidental learning and initial vocational training (IVT) are explicitly excluded.
Measures and activities of continuous vocational training involve CVT and other forms of CVT.
CVT courses are usually clearly separated from the active working post (learning takes place in locations specially assigned for learning, such as a classroom or a training center). They have a high degree of organization (time, space and content) by the trainer or the training institution. The content is designed for a group of students (for example, curriculum exists). Two different types of CVT are identified: internal CVT and external CVT.
Other forms of continuous vocational training are usually associated with the active work and the active working post, but they also include presence (instructions) at conferences, trade fairs, etc. with the aim to learn. They are often characterized by a certain degree of self-organization (time, space and content) by an independent student or a group of students. The content is compiled according to the individual needs of the students in the working post.
