Job vacancies
The reporting units which are subject of this survey are selected on the basis of a sample, i.e.
the sample covers enterprises with activity B - S (according to the National Classification of
Activities NKD Rev.2) and which have three or more employees. The sample includes all
medium-size and large enterprises, while the rest are selected randomly. In 2019, the number of
business entities in the sample is 3787. The data are collected with a web questionnaire
available via the system for electronic data collection eStat.
Definitions
Job vacancy can be a newly created paid post, unoccupied or already existing post that is about to become vacant and for which the employer takes active steps for finding suitable candidate.
Job vacancy includes: permanent and fixed-term posts, full-time and part-time posts, job
vacancies opened due to long-term absences (for example maternity leave or long-term
sicknesses).
Job vacancy excludes: posts solely for internal applicants of the responding unit, posts to be
filled in by unpaid apprentices and temporary posts intended to be filled in by temporary agency
workers.
Job vacancy rate is the ratio between job vacancies and the sum of the vacant and occupied
posts, shown as a percentage.
Explanations about the data
The data in the Survey on Job Vacancies are collected quarterly and represent the average of the
three months in the quarter (15th of each month). Once shown job vacancy in one of the
months in the quarter is excluded from further showing and registering, regardless if it is still
active, and it is not shown in the next month, while the job vacancies that were registered in the
previous quarter and are still active in the current quarter should be shown.
