Census of catering trade capacities (first results), 2016

Introduction
Census on Catering Trade Capacities was realized in the period from 1 till 15 November 2008 on the whole territory of the Republic of Macedonia, according to the Law on State Statistics "Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" 54/97 and 21/2007 and Program of statistical surveys 2008-2012 19-31/1 "Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" 11/08.
Census survey of the catering capacities was carried out by the method of interview. The data collection was done by interviewers previously selected and trained by the State Statistical Office.
The Census methodology used is harmonised according to the Eurostat standards and adjusted to the current situation of catering trade and tourism.
Basis definitions
A catering object is considered to be every catering business unit where the guests enjoy any kind of the catering service, for example: services for beverage, services for food, services for accommodation and other services usually given.
With the Census of Catering Trade Capacities were scoped all the catering business objects on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, then the non catering business subjects, where there is a single catering business unit, as well as the independent catering stores.
