Based on the Survey on Income and Living Conditions, which is carried out in accordance with European Union recommendations, the State Statistical Office calculated Laeken poverty indicators for 2022. The source for poverty calculations is incomes, and the poverty threshold is defined at 60% of median equivalised income.
In 2022, the at-risk-of-poverty rate in the Republic of North Macedonia was 22.9%.
Analysed by household types, the at-risk-of-poverty rate in households of two adults with two dependent children in 2022 was 27.2%. According to the most frequent activity status, the at-risk-of-poverty rate for employed persons was 8.9%, while for pensioners it was 9.9%. The Gini coefficient (measure of income distribution inequality) was 29.8%.
