Mortality in the Republic of North Macedonia, 2022

According to the State Statistical Office data, there were 22 459 deaths in the Republic of North Macedonia in 2022, which represents
a decrease of 21.2% compared with the previous year. The structure by sex, shows higher male participation, 11 868 or 52.8% of the
total number of deaths. The number of infant deaths was 58. Participation of infant deaths in the total number of deaths was 0.3% (per
100 deaths).
By months, most (2802) deaths were in ?anuary.
The average age of deaths was 71.5 years for males and 75.8 years for females, which means that women outlive men by 4.3 years on
average.
?ost deaths by (ICD-IX), were due to circulatory diseases (I00-I99), which up to 41.3% of total number of deaths, neoplasms (C00-D48)
with 17.0%, followed by deaths due to pandemic Covid –19 (U07) with 6.8%, while with 6.7% were deaths due endocrine, nutritional
and metabolic diseases (E00-E90), the deaths due to respiratory system diseases (J00-J99) with 4.5%, and the others with lower
participation.
