Structure of Agricultural Holdings
Farm Structure Survey, 2016 - preliminary data -

In accordance with EU Regulation (EC) No.1166/2008, in June 2016, the State Statistical Office conducted the Farm Structure
Survey.
The structural survey on agricultural holdings is one of the basic statistical surveys in the area of agriculture which is conducted
every three years and ensures comparable data on agricultural holdings.
According to the Farm Structure Survey data, there are 178 125 agricultural holdings in the Republic of Macedonia. On average,
one agricultural holding uses 1.8 ha of agricultural area and breeds 2.1 LSU (livestock units).
The total utilised agricultural area by agricultural holdings is 320 738 ha, and of the total number of holdings, 60.8% used up to
1 ha of agricultural area. Agricultural holdings have a total of 381 361 LSU.
Of the manure application techniques, 37.9% of agricultural holdings used broadcast application of manure with no incorporation,
while the most used irrigation method is surface irrigation method.
