The Retail Price Index in August 2010, compared with July 2010, increased by 0.2%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.1%

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Retail Price Index in August 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.2, while the Consumer Price Index was 100.1.

The increase in the Consumer Price Index by 0.1% is a result of the higher indices of fats by 10.8%, eggs by 1.9%, processed vegetable by 0.5% and meat by 0.2%.

In August, there was also an increase of the indices of central heating by 10.9%, means of education by 1.1% and administrative services by 0.3%.

A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in August 2010, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fruit by 2.6%, vegetable by 1.9%, fresh milk and other food products by 0.5%, dairy products by 0.4%, non-alcoholic beverages by 0.3%, cereal products and processed meat by 0.2%.

In August, there was also a decrease of the indices of oil derivates by 1.4%, personal care articles by 0.7%, household appliances by 0.4% and furniture by 0.2%.

The indices of the groups: Clothing and footwear and Restaurants and hotels remained at the same level as in the previous month.

The Retail Price Index, in August 2010, compared with August 2009, registered an increase by 2.5%, while the Consumer Price Index increased by 1.9%. The value of the consumer basket for food and beverages for a four-member household in August 2010, calculated on the basis of retail prices, was 11 891 denars, and in comparison with the previous month it remained at the same level.
