Museums and museum collections in the Republic of Macedonia, 2009

Data for 2009 were obtained from 23 museums and 20 museum collections.

Of the total 23 museums, 16 were public general museums, while 7 were public specialized museums.

The number of visitors to exhibitions (in the museums and outside of them) in 2009 was 957 182, which is about 7 times more than in 2006.

In 2009 the museums prepared 158 own exhibitions, of which 100 were prepared by public general museums and 58 by public specialized museums.

In 2009 there were 570 091 inventoried exhibits in the museums, of which 32 490 were displayed.

The museum collections had 295 327 inventoried exhibits, of which 8 317 were displayed.
