Industrial producer price indices on the non-domestic market
Status:
15.06.2012
Sampling of enterprises and industrial products
Sampling is done in several steps:
Step 1: Matching of data from “Annual survey on industry, 2010" (IND.21) and "Commodity international exchange, 2010”.
Step 2: Selection of enterprises and products for the sample (327 enterprises with 812 products).
Step 3: The sample includes 215 enterprises with 508 products. The selected 508 exported industrial products cover 95.17% of total sales value on the foreign market in IND.21, 2010.
Step 4: Structuring of the values from step 3 in accordance with the values from step 2.
Weights at group level according to the "Classification of Products by Activities" (KPD), tariff, enterprise
Step 5: The value of exported products from IND.21, 2010, is distributed according to the structure of the value of exports from "Commodity international exchange, 2010”. The obtained values are shown in relative indicators (weights).
Sales prices
Step 6: Calculation of the so-called “Industrial producer prices on the non-domestic market”. In this case, the "sales price" is calculated as the quotient of the value of exports expressed in denars and exported quantity of the product, expressed in kilogram at micro level.
Step 7: For months in which there are no data on prices, imputation is made of the price of the previous month at the micro level.
Computation
Step 8: To enable identification of outliers (prices showing extreme deviation), relatives are calculated at the micro level (R1-micro).The relative is the quotient of the price of the current month and the price of the previous month.
Step 9: Calculation of the standard deviation of step 8, at the 3-digit level of KPD (StDev-3).
Step 10: Calculation of the average relative from Step 8, at the 3-digit level of KPD (R1-3).
Step 11: Calculation of the standard deviation of step 8, at the micro level (StDev-micro) with the following formula: StDev-micro = (R1-micro - R1-3) / StDev-3
Step 12: Relatives at the micro level for which standard deviation is calculated outside the interval ± 2 are considered outliers and replaced with the relative value of 1.
Step 13: Calculation of monthly relative at the micro level (R2-micro) by the formula: R2-micro = R1-micro from the previous month x R1-micro from the current month
Step 14: Calculation of monthly indices at the micro level with 2010 as base year (Im-micro) with the following formula: Im-micro = R2-micro / (average R2-micro from base year)*100
Step 15: For the calculation of the monthly index at the level of group, division, sector, main industrial groups and the total, the Laspeyres formula is used.
Classifications applied
In the calculation and publication of Industrial producer prices on the non-domestic market the following are used:
- National Classification of Activities ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" 147/2008) - Classification of Products by Activities ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" 97/2009) - National Nomenclature of Industrial Products ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" 75/2009) - Customs Nomenclature ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia" 155/2009, 165/2010 and 183/2011).
