Yesterday, at the InfoCentre of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Macedonia, a meeting was held marking the official start of the new EU-funded Twinning project of the State Statistical Office titled "Support to the State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia for capacity building and improving compliance of statistics with EU standards".
At the meeting, before a large number of guests, speeches were given by His Excellency Mr. Aivo Orav, Head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Jovan Andonov, State Secretary at the Secretariat for European Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Her Excellency Ms. Gudrun Steinacker, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Blagica Novkovska, Director of the State Statistical Office, Ms. Claudia Junker, Head of the Statistical Cooperation Unit of the Eurostat, and by Mr. Ringo Raupach, Head of Section at the Federal Statistical Office of Germany.
The project will be realised over the next two years with the support of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany as Project Leader, Statistics Denmark as Junior Project Partner, and with expert assistance from the statistical institutions of Bulgaria, France, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
