In the first quarter of 2009, 41.8% of the households had access to the Internet
According to the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia, in the first quarter of 2009, 54.1% of the households were using computers.
Broadband connection to the Internet had 81.0% of the households with Internet access, which is 2.4 percentage points more than in the same period of 2008.
Most present broadband connection was by xDSL (ADSL and others) technologies, at 47.2% of the households with Internet access.
In the first quarter of 2009, of the total population aged 15-74, 55.5% used a computer which, in comparison with the same period of 2008, is an increase by 5.5 percentage points, while 50.0% used the Internet, which is 8.5 percentage points more than in the same period last year.
Internet was mostly used for communication, information and on-line services.
