Marriages and divorces in the Republic of Macedonia  16.06.2009In 2008 the number of marriages and divorces decreased in Republic of Macedonia Decreased number of marriages According to the State Statistical Office data, the number of marriages in 2008 decreased 5.1% compared to the previous year and it amounted to 14 695 marriages. The most of the marriages are in August (13.1 %) and at lest in April (4.8%) By order of marriage, first marriage is more often with participation of 92.8% for women and 90.3% for men. Second marriage with participation of (8.7%) and third marriage with participation of (1.0%) are more frequent for men Average age of groom/ bride at first marriage Average age at first marriage is 24.7 years for bride and 27.7 for groom, that presents insignificant change compared to previous year. Decreased number of divorces The number of divorces in 2008 decreased by 14.7% compared to 2007 and it amounted to 1209 divorces. At lest of divorces are in August (2.5%) and the most in December (11.4%). The biggest number of divorces by age of wife (21.4%) and for husband (19.0%) are in the same age group 25-29.
