With the adoption of the new Law for territorial organization of the local
government in Republic of Macedonia ("Official Gazette of the Republic
of Macedonia" No 55 of August 16, 2004) and the transfer of a lot
of authorities to the local governments, the need of data according the
new territorial organization has emerged, as a base for the planning of
the development of the new local governments.
The State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia, regarding these
needs, has decided to publish a new, second edition of data from the Census
of Population, Households and Dwellings in the Republic of Macedonia,
2002, at municipality level, in a compliance with the new territorial
organisation of the Republic of Macedonia. We expect that this edition
could be used as a base for planning of a series of activities, which
can provide faster development of the local self-government units and
the country as a whole.
This is the first book of the second data edition of the Population Census
2002, containing eight tables of data on the quantitative condition and
the more significant demographic, ethnic, educational and economic features
of the population in Republic of Macedonia and its territorial distribution,
on the number and types of households and families and their territorial
distribution in Republic of Macedonia, as well as data of the number,
size and population density of the housing capacities and housing territorial
distribution in Republic of Macedonia. We do expect that, data contained
in this publication and the following publications, will satisfy the most
of necessities of our users. Certainly, for each user who will require
other data from the Census, which are not included in designed publications,
the State Statistical Office will make all necessary data processing for
the purpose of satisfying these requests.
