According to the State Statistical Office data, the number of live births recorded in the first quarter of 2013 was 5 397, an increase
of 1.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

The number of deaths in the first quarter of 2013 decreased by 13.8% compared to the same quarter of 2012 and it amounted
to 4 974, of which 46 were infant deaths.

The natural increase was 423 persons, representing the difference by which the number of live births is bigger than the number
of deaths.

The number of marriages registered in this quarter of the year was 2 893, an increase of 5.9% compared to the same quarter of
2012.

In this quarter, there were 573 divorces, which represents a decrease in comparison with the same quarter of 2012.
