Number of livestock and poultry, 2016


According to the data of the State Statistical Office, the total number of cattle increased by 0.5% in 2016 in comparison with
2015. The number of cattle in individual agricultural holdings grew by 1.3%, whereas in business entities (agricultural enterprises
and cooperatives) cattle numbers declined by 21.8%.
In 2016, compared to 2015, the number of pigs in business entities grew by 2.5%, while the number of pigs in individual
agricultural holdings rose by 4.3%.
A decrease in the number of sheep was recorded in both sectors, in individual agricultural holdings by 0.7% and in business
entities by 16.2%.
Compared to the previous year, the number of goats in individual agricultural holdings increased by 15.6%, while goat numbers
in business entities grew by 8.8%.
In 2016, in comparison with the previous year, the number of poultry rose by 5.9%
