External trade volume
According to the preliminary data of the State Statistical Office, the export value of goods in the Republic of Macedonia
in the period January-March 2010 was 642 105 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 1 100 684 thousands
US dollars. Import coverage by export was 58.3%. The trade deficit in the period January-March 2010 was 458 580
thousand US dollars.
The trade exchange according to products shows that in the exports the most significant products are iron and steel
products (flat-rolled products), clothes, ferro-nickel and petroleum oil preparations. In the imports, the most significant
products are crude petroleum oils, motor vehicles for transport of persons and electricity.
In the period January-March 2010 the most important export partners were the EU-27 countries (63.3%) and the
West Balkan countries (29.0%), and the most important import partners were the EU-27 countries (51.6%) and the
Developing countries (28.7%). According to the total volume of international commodity trade, the most important
trade partners of the Republic of Macedonia are Germany, Greece, Serbia, Russia and Bulgaria (44.4% of the total
international commodity trade exchange).
