Consumer Price Index by COICOP and Retail Price Index, August 2019

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in August 2019, in comparison with the previous month, was 100.3, while the Retail Price Index was 100.2.

An increase in the Consumer Price Index in August 2019, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes and other tubers by 6.4%, oils and fats by 1.6%, other meat preparations by 0.9%, fresh or chilled fruit, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.7%, meat by 0.6%, fish and seafood by 0.5%, bread and cereals, dried, salted or smoked meat by 0.4%, yoghurt by 0.3%, milk, food product n.e.c by 0.2%.

In August 2019, there was also an increase in the indices of package holidays by 4.1%, passenger transport by air by 4.0%, domestic services and household services by 3.3%, recording media by 3.1%, accommodation services by 2.8%, paramedical services by 1.1%, solid fuels for household by 1.0%, pets and related products, personal care by 0.9%, glassware, tableware and household utensils by 0.7%, cleaning and maintenance of the dwelling by 0.6%, furniture and furnishings by 0.5%, liquid fuels for household, other personal effects by 0.4%, services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling, carpets and other floor coverings, major household appliances, gardens, plants and flowers by 0.3%.

A decrease in the Consumer Price Index in August 2019, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 1.1%, eggs by 0.4%, dry fruit and nuts, non-alcoholic beverages by 0.3%.

In August, there was also a decrease of the indices of heat energy by 6.4%, gas for household by 4.3%, information processing equipment by 2.7%, footwear by 2.5%, recreational and sporting services by 2.0%, fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment by 1.6%, equipment for reception, recording and reproduction of sound and picture by 1.1%, telephone and telefax equipment by 0.9%, stationery and drawing materials by 0.5%, garments by 0.4%, small electric appliances, medicines, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments by 0.2%.

The Consumer Price Index in August 2019, in comparison with August 2018, increased by 0.8%, while the Retail Price Index remained at the same level as the previous month.
