Law on Amending the Law on State Statistics

The Law on Amending the Law on State Statistics was adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia and it was published in Official Gazette No. 51/2011, on 13 April 2011. The amendment of the law is made in order to harmonise it with the Regulation 223/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council, especially in relation to:
  • The principles on which official statistics is based
  • Quality criteria
  • Conditions for publishing of individual data, especially stressing the passive confidentiality
  • Stressing the role of SSO as coordinator of the statistical system of the country, in both domestic and international conditions
  • Implementation of the Code of Practice of the European statistics in the working of the Office
  • Decreasing of the penalties up to 30%
  • The conditions for the required expertise that have to be met by the person appointed as Director or Deputy Director of SSO
  • The conditions for assuring the production of quality and objective statistical data.
